So it’s Friday night during lent and you can’t eat meat. Pizza again? Not if you live anywhere near Seven Corners. Head over to Taco Baja (6136 Arlington Blvd., Falls Church, VA 22044) in the old Safeway Plaza. I will be the first to tell you, if you are shy or not used to feeling a little out of place, this is not the taco joint for you. But if you are looking for the best guacamole taco you’ve ever had then it’s worth the trip. This is actually my second time there but I have never been on a weekend night when the “Taco Baja Girls” are working. I had heard about the “girls” so the need for a quick meatless meal and my curiosity got the best of me. Located directly next to the Goodwill with blacked out windows, it can be easy to miss. Don’t worry, even though it doesn’t look like it, they are open. Tonight I had 2 fish tacos and a guacamole taco. While the fish tacos left a lot to be desired, the guacamole tacos are where they excel. The shell is flakey, almost like a pastry shell, and the guacamole is perfectly salty with just enough red onion to make it tangy. As for the girls, they are all scantily-clad in pink tank tops and boy shorts and they are everywhere. I would say there was a 2-1 baja girl to customer ratio… questionable at best. Final advice, go for a guacamole taco, just maybe not on a Friday night.
