Greek Lamb Burgers with Yogurt-Feta Sauce

by Missy on April 5, 2010

It was a gorgeous Easter Sunday, and we celebrated by making yummy Lamb burgers.  If you are looking for something different to fire on the grill, I’d highly suggest you try this:

Greek Lamb Burgers

  • 1.5 lbs of ground lamb (standard groceries may not have it, try Whole Foods or your butcher)
  • 1 small onion, minced
  • 1 clove of garlic, minced
  • 3 tbsp fresh mint, chopped
  • 3 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • Feta Cheese (to taste)
  • scant tsp of salt and pepper

Mix the above ingedients together and shape into 4 patties.  Lightly brush each burger with some olive oil.  Cook them on the grill for about 12 minutes, flipping once.

Yogurt-Feta Sauce

  • 1 cup whole milk yogurt (I use Greek yogurt)
  • 1/3 cup of feta cheese
  • 1 seedless cucumber, diced
  • 1 tbsp fresh mint, chopped
  • 2 tbsp of olive oil
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • salt and pepper to taste

Combine ingredients in a small bowl and refrigerate until ready to serve.

You can use standard buns for your burgers.  For a fun twist, try pita pockets or naan.  Last night, I used naan and wrapped my burger, topping it off with the creamy yogurt sauce and a slice of fresh tomato.  It was a great dinner! ~Missy
