This morning I had an opportunity to try the newest restaurant from the folks at Liberty Tavern, Northside Social. This coffee shop and wine bar is located in the old Murky Coffee building in Clarendon, which has seen significant renovations. Northside Social has managed to maintain the comfortable atmosphere that was present in Murky Coffee while making some much needed updates. I can easily see spending a lazy Saturday morning enjoying coffee and a pastry and if the weather stays this beautiful, having a glass of wine in the evening on their expansive patio.
I attended the sneak peak opening this past weekend but didn’t have a chance to try the food until this morning. The menu has a huge variety for breakfast and I selected the LT Maple Sausage Pattie and Egg ($4). The sandwich came prepared on an english muffin and the poached egg on top was a welcome surprise. If this isn’t the best breakfast sandwich in Arlington, I don’t know what is. I also enjoyed the little jar of strawberry and pineapple that accompanied the sandwich. Their coffee is sourced from Counter Culture, and is expertly prepared. Northside Social serves a variety of pastries, snacks and salad as well.
This is a brand new restaurant, so they still need to work out a few of the kinks, but overall, I was very impressed and I expect it will be a very popular place to hang out this summer.
