So I know this is a DC food blog but I simply MUST mention a restaurant I visited in Brooklyn, the Stone Park Café. This is truly one of the best meals I have had in a long time. I was there with a large party so we were ordering from a pre-set menu but I tasted every item that came to the group and they were all spectacular. Here is my “greatest hits” list
- Mini Bread Loaves- Ok so this just came with dinner but it was delicious and served fresh and piping hot from the oven.
- Swiss Chard Raviolini with wild mushrooms, sage, pine nuts and parmigiano reggiano- Given the chance I would have eaten 5 pounds of this!
- Sweet Corn Soup with rock shrimp fritter and shrimp oil- Creamy and delicious
- Hand Rolled Cavatelli with spicy fennel sausage, broccoli rabe and parmigiano reggiano- This was perfectly salted and a rather large portion considering it was just a starter.
- Grilled Hanger Steak with grilled romaine, buttermilk blue cheese dressing and onion rings- Perfectly cooked and served sliced. The grilled romaine was awesome!
- Roasted Giannone Farms Chicken with tagliatelle, morel mushrooms, roasted garlic and pea shoots- NOTE: So I’ve been to Zuni in San Fran and I have to say this chicken beat it hands down. Shocking, I know. I ended up asking how it was prepared and sure enough they brine it for 24 hours. I don’t know how I missed out on the brining craze but between Ad Hoc Fried Chicken and this dish, I am a true believer!
- Dessert- While I am not a huge dessert fan in general, my pineapple and melon sorbet was delicious
So, if you find youself in the Brooklyn I highly recommend making the trip. You won’t regret it.
