I’ve been on the search for an easy and delicious sugar cookie recipe for a while now. A lot of recipes I’ve tried in the past have either been really hard to roll out or haven’t been super tasty. Recently I tried this wonderful recipe from our friend’s mother and I couldn’t be happier with the results.
Recipe
4 Cups Sifted All Purpose Flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
Sift together and set aside
Cream Together
1 C softened butter,
1 1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 c sour cream
Directions
- Beat the mixture until its light and fluffy.
- Gradually add the flour mixture beat until well combined.
- Roll dough into a ball and divide in 4 parts. Refrigerate overnight.
- On a well-floured surface, roll 1 part of the dough at a time out until it’s 1/4 inch thick.
- Cut out with floured cookie cutters.
Bake at 375 for ten minutes or until the edges are light gold. Allow to cool before frosting with icing or colored sugar sprinkles.
