Holiday Sugar Cookies

by Chad on December 9, 2010

I’ve been on the search for an easy and delicious sugar cookie recipe for a while now.  A lot of recipes I’ve tried in the past have either been really hard to roll out or haven’t been super tasty.  Recently I tried this wonderful recipe from our friend’s mother and I couldn’t be happier with the results.

Recipe
4 Cups Sifted All Purpose Flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
Sift together and set aside

Cream Together
1 C softened butter,
1 1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 c sour cream

Directions

  1. Beat the mixture until its light and fluffy.
  2. Gradually add the flour mixture beat until well combined.
  3. Roll dough into a ball and divide in 4 parts. Refrigerate overnight.
  4. On a well-floured surface, roll 1 part of the dough at a time out until it’s 1/4 inch thick.
  5. Cut out with floured cookie cutters.

Bake at 375 for ten minutes or until the edges are light gold. Allow to cool before frosting with icing or colored sugar sprinkles.
