Earl’s does a body good

by Britt on March 2, 2011

It’s not often that I make bold statements like, “That sandwich was life changing” but this weekend was an exception.

If you haven’t already personally heard me whine and/or somewhat obnoxiously mention that I am training for my first-ever marathon, now you know. Don’t worry it actually relates to this post. So, this weekend I had to run 12 miles with my husband. The whole time we were running, all I could think about was what I was going to eat when we were finished. Should I be healthy? Should I go full out and get Five Guys? This went on in my head for pretty much the full 2 hours when I finally realized, we could go to Earl’s!

Earl’s, a local homemade sandwich shop in Clarendon, is one of those places that I always forget to go to and then wonder what in the world is wrong with me that I would forget such an awesome place. They roast all of their turkey, pork and beef so you’ll never get a bland deli meat sandwich here. This place is the real deal.

As usual, we arrived and the place was packed. Rich immediately decided on the special, a roast beef French dip with field greens, caramelized onions and goat cheese on ciabatta… so good. While I was tempted to get the same thing, I decided I had to at least try something different.  After a quick text to Chad for advice, I decided on the Roasted Turkey sandwich topped with gravy and sweet potato fries. Amazing, I know! It was so good. Salty, a little bit sweet with really high quality roasted turkey, there is no way you could go wrong with this sandwich. Get it now! BONUS: this is a way better and less expensive way to get the sweet potato fries as they are a bit overpriced at $3.99 for a side order. I left feeling totally satisfied and full but knowing that it was all made from delicious and fresh ingredients.

Since I’m still not entirely sure that my opinion was swayed by the fact that I had just brutalized my body and anything would seem awesome, I will of course be willing to taste outside of training hours. Sandwiches anyone?
