One of my absolute favorite dishes is the Paglia e Fieno, (pictured above left). It is a pasta dish of spinach and egg fettuccine with veal ragu, fresh herbs, and Parmesan cheese. It is one of the most comforting and delicious bowls of pasta the city has to offer. It is my regular dish on the menu, but you cannot go wrong with the other pastas the restaurant offers such as the ricotta and goat cheese cavatelli with lamb meatballs, tomato sauce, and spicy guanciale (above middle). Or the linguine with clams, mussels, shrimp, scallops, and calamari with a light tomato sauce (above right). I love to order that dish in the summer as it is a bit lighter than some of the heavier offerings that I gravitate towards in the winter. The pizzas are always piping hot, and the Piccante is my favorite which has spicy salami and Italian sausage.
There are so many excellent food options that have invaded D.C. in the past few years, and 14th Street has experienced an explosion, but I feel strongly that the old staples like Posto who consistently deliver good food and service should not be overlooked. It has been a pillar for the neighborhood since 2008, and it might not be the trendiest place on the block, but it has definitely won my loyalty.
