Chad

I tend to be that guy in a group of friends that you always call for restaurant recommendations, menus to impress a wife, husband, boyfriend or girlfriend, and has an encyclopedic knowledge of the Greater Washington DC Area restaurant scene.

“Hey Chad, did you hear that XXX opened up?” Why, yes I have, and I have already been there, it is delicious, try the ….

Along with my wonderful blogmates,  we will be providing restaurant reviews, recommendations, news, links, photography, and whatever else we feel like. Overall, I love to cook and I spend way too much money on groceries. I almost always prefer to make it from scratch, whatever it is, I love photography and I have been told that I have a taste for the finer things in life.

I hate bad bagels, mayonnaise, and the term “foodie”.

Usually, before I ask someones opinion of a restaurant, I try to feel them out to see what type of taste they have. I have been working on a quiz to help me size up a persons taste buds quickly.

1. What’s your favorite dish at the Olive Garden?

Trick question. If they provide any answer that is not, “OH GOD NO!!!! I HATE THAT PLACE!!”, I will ignore your advice. Some may argue that is too harsh, but let’s be honest, their food is horrible.

2. Have you ever purchased Hunt’s Ketchup?

The answer has to be no. We need to have some standards here. Heinz is the only way to go.  Have you met anyone that prefers Hunt’s over Heinz? I am pretty sure Mr. Hunt prefers Heinz 57  in the privacy of his own home.

The quiz needs work, so if you have questions, leave them in the comments. I usually start with the quiz and move on to ask about their favorite restaurants.

Speaking of which… here are some of my favorites in the DC Area (in no particular order, other than Komi):

Komi
Rays The Steaks, Hellburger, etc…anything Michael Landrum does is genius
Taylor Gourmet
Me Jana
Carlyle
Central
Liberty Tavern
Brooklyn Bagel

I am a member of the Vine Cliff Wine Club and Normans Farm Market CSA

EMDM crew,

We would like to invite you to a pre-opening service to get an early look of our new Cava Grill in Bethesda. The service will be from 5pm-8pm. I have attached a press release I can send if you provide an email contact.

Best,
Brett

Oh, I think I can pass that test! I was already thinking, “This guy gives a sh-t about Olive Garden???” before I finished reading the question. And, I’m from PA…so I actually don’t know there’s any ketchup out there besides Heinz.
